Here are a couple of images of some recent door families we have been building for a client, for use with Autodesk Revit. Door families (and door & window BIM content in general) are quite difficult to build as they often have a lot of parameters & setting built into them. The trick to building them is to lay all of the options/parameters in the most logical & user friendly way. As the BIM content you provide is supposed to make specifying your products easier, you must make sure there are know bottle necks within them.

Do you think providing BIM content to specifiers would increase your sales? Contact us today at: info@barringtonarch.com for a free BIM needs assessment.

There’s a lot of content being released by manufacturers in New Zealand at the moment, which is great to see.

However we think that most of these manufacturers have missed a huge opportunity, what about all of those ArchiCAD users?

ArchiCAD users make up around 50% of the BIM users based in New Zealand, so supporting them is a great move. As well as a sure fire way to build some brand preference.

Below is a graph of the search volume for Revit & ArchiCAD in New Zealand. This is a great way to measure the interest in each platform. As you can see they are about even.

So make sure your not putting all of your eggs in one basket. The best bet is to cover both bases.

BIM in 2010

We are all back and feeling refreshed!

2010 is an exciting year for our company (and the rest of the world). As it’s January loads of manufacturers are sitting down and figuring out their plan of attack for the year. It’s great to see more of them embracing the move to BIM (Building Information Modeling) software, by getting their products BIM-ready. We’ve been talking to a lot of them in the last week and everyone is set to come roaring into 2010 with some fresh ideas & better strategies.

Do you think providing BIM content to your clients & specifiers would boost your sales in 2010? Click here to learn more about our BIM integration services for Revit, ArchiCAD & Sketchup >

We are finding more & more manufacturers are coming to us for Revit families of their products. It is great to see them embracing BIM (building information modeling) & we are happy to help create the families for them. As well as help distribute the finished Revit content.

However although providing Revit families to Revit users is essential. It is only one part of the BIM pie. There are still the other users to consider:

ArchiCAD for instance is a huge driving force in the BIM movement, with hundreds of thousands of users world wide. As is the the same for Bentley’s BIM products. It is a mistake to over look these markets, as they are still huge!

So when devising your BIM integration plan/strategy. Make sure you are covering all bases or at least plan to. This will give you the best exposure, as well as the biggest increase in brand awareness and your bottom line!

Does providing your BIM content in Revit, ArchiCAD & Bentley formats sound like a daunting task? Don’t panic we are here to help. Learn more about our BIM content development services here or contact us at info@barringtonarch.com

We would like to take this chance to thank everyone for their support this year and wish you all a very merry christmas!
Also we look forward to working with you all once again in 2010!

As usual we’ve been busy! We’ve been working a range of different projects in different areas, which is great. From developing BIM content (for Revit & ArchiCAD) to launching some web apps for the iPhone – more on this next week.

We are currently helping to develop some BIM content for Blue Giant Corporation, which will be provided free of charge to Revit users throughout the world. Blue Giant is a manufacturer of large industrial & commercial docking solutions. It’s great to see large companies like this embracing the move to BIM & providing this content to BIM users. As always we expect this to greatly improve their reach to architects and strengthen their brand for the future.
