Interest In BIM Increasing

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

BIM (Building Information Modeling) is really taking off now and becoming more of an industry standard. We are seeing a lot more building product manufacturers providing BIM content. As well as a lot more architects, designs & technicians asking for it!

As usual we collect a lot of data & like to keep an eye on what is happening. Below is a chart which shows the increase of people searching for BIM & building information related resources, over the last few years.

Where does your company fit into this trend? If you are a building product manufacturer or service provider you should be seriously thinking about integrating your products into BIM, thus putting you directly in front of the specifiers & a head of your competition.

More Architectural Renders

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

This week we’ve been helping the guys at Form Architecture to render up a new project of theirs.

The process was a straight forward one, which we find works great with a lot of architects & designers. The new project concept had already been model in ArchiCAD (their BIM software of choice). We then simply exported it to our advanced rendering software & applied materials as per their brief. They were working to a deadline, so we made sure to produce a fast turn around.

Have a look below, we’d love to hear what you think.

Use Your BIM Content To Create A Viral Spread

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

viral spread of BIM contentAs a part of each BIM design file your company offers (be it Revit or ArchiCAD), there is an interface. The interface is used to control the object’s parameters & various settings. However the interface also has another very important use, one that is often overlooked. Here’s a few points to think about for your BIM content interfaces:

  • The BIM content interface is your first point of contact with the specifier
  • The BIM content interface is not interrupting them
  • The BIM content interface is a place for information that they are already looking for
  • The BIM content interface save the specifier time and makes their life easier
  • The BIM content interface makes using your product easier
  • The BIM content interface can connect to the web
  • The BIM content interface can direct people to specific parts of your website
  • The BIM content interface allows people to share your product with others, (for free!)

In the end, your BIM content’s interface is where the hidden value is. They give you a product marketer’s dream: A chance to communicate with your target audience (the specifiers), when they are already interested (they are looking for you, you’re not interrupting them) and let them choose to start a dialogue with you. Well designed BIM content encourages your users to use your products and start a dialogue with you, so that rather than having to try to sell to them, you are helping them!

Do you see that helping grow your business and bottomline?

BIM content for BEGA Lighting USA.

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

BEGA lighting USAA recent project we have just finished is some BIM (Building Information Modeling) content for BEGA Lighting USA.

BEGA have one of the world’s largest and best ranges of architectural light fittings & products. Below is a screenshot of the Bega 6875MH light fitting, which we have produced parametric BIM content for Autodesk Revit (2009 & 2010) and ArchiCAD (version 11, 12 & 13). This new BIM content gives Bega a great opportunity to easily communicate their product with architects & specifiers, whilst providing them with a valuable tool.

The light fitting can be also now be seen by the architect’s clients within the virtual building model & any renders that are produced. All this combines together to now give BEGA a large advantage over their competition, in a very competitive market.
