Recent Projects – Architectural Renders

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

Recently we have produced some high end renders for a new architectural project designed by Form Architecture.

These high end renders were produced by taking Form Architects existing BIM model (which was model in ArchiCAD). We then then fine tuned the model in ArchiCAD 12 and added some designer furniture items and fittings (all which are apart of our Barrignton ArchiCAD library). The model was then rendered from a variety of angles to produce life like, first person views.

These architectural renders are now being used as marketing material and have greatly helped Form Architecture to better communicate with their client.

Unlock more power in your product information

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

Are you selling your product information short?

Now days everything is modeled in 3D, chances are the products or components you are selling all have been. However even though all this work has gone into product development, most of this great information is lost as soon as the product is put into production.

Your R&D department model that product in 3D because that is the best way to communicate the information!

Unlock that power

Instead of hiding those 3d models away, release them to the market. This creates a huge buzz around your product as far more information can be communicated about your product, far more easily. By turning these existing 3d models into BIM content you allow architects, designers & engineers to quickly access huge amounts of your products information, far more easily & far more accurately. A perfect win-win.

Chances are your company already has valuable 3D assets, by repacking them into an easily accessible BIM format (eg ArchiCAD or Revit) you open this information up to everyone. Thus growing your sales & increasing your bottom line!

Gutter Solutionz, Welcome to ArchiCAD

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

gs_logo_hor_cRecently we were approached & and have worked with Gutter Solutionz.

Gutter Solutionz are a New Zealand company with a fantastic spouting screen system. Their products is doing fantastic throughout New Zealand, but was normally added as an after thought.

Barrington Architecture & Design have worked with Gutter Solutionz to integrate their great product into ArchiCAD (ArchiCAD is the leading BIM software used by Arhcitects & Technicians throughout New Zealand).

they now provide a great ArchiCAD object which is a free download, from their website and from ours at objectstop.com. The objects allows you to quickly and easily place their spouting screen onto your detail drawings and stretch it to the correct. size.

In plan the object allows user to easily show the location of the screen on their roof plans. In plan the object features a dynamic note (annotation) which updates to display the length of Gutter Solutionz’s screen required. This allows Gutter Solutionz to quickly provide quotes, thus saving both Gutter Solutionz & Architects time. A perfect win – win

As of today (23rd April 2009) this ArchiCAD object/plugin has been downloaded by 85 Architectural practices throughout New Zealand, since it’s release 9 days ago! That’s a huge success and once again pays tribute to the power of having your products integrated into BIM.

Markham Distributing Welcome to BIM

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

markham distributingIn February we helped Markham Distributing integrate three of their main products into BIM. Markham Distributing is a New Zealand owned company and distribute a range of products for concrete floor slabs.

We helped Markhams integrate their products into ArchiCAD (which is the leading BIM software used throughout New Zealand). Since February their ArchiCAD objects and colour files have been downloaded by 357 Architectural practices throughout New Zealand!

That means that every time these practises use there ArchiCAD BIM software they see the Markhams objects and are able to quickly, easily & accurately add the Markham’s products to their detail drawings.

This is a huge advantage for Markham Distributing and helps to create a huge brand preference towards them.

We also help to convert their Apoxy concrete floor colours into easy to use ArchiCAD materials. This means Architects can easily apply  them to their virtual models allowing clients to easily visualise their project.

Hats off to Markham Distributing for being an innovative company and joining the BIM revolution!

ArchiCAD users can download the objects and colour files for free from here

or from our ArchiCAD marketplace at objectstop.com

What is BIM?

Monday, April 13th, 2009

BIM seems to be a bit of a ‘buzz’ word at the moment, because of this many people are getting confused about its meaning.

We recently come accross this great article. It outlines exactly what BIM (buidling inforamtion modeling) is all about and how it will effect you. Whether you are a supplier, manufacturer, engineer or architect. BIM software is rapidly penetrating the AEC industry, so the sooner you come to grips with it, the greater you will benefit.

Increase your bottom line with BIM (Building Information Modeling)

Monday, April 13th, 2009

It seem that in this current ecomoney many companies are turning to BIM (building Inforamtion Modeling) technoolgy to increase there bottom line.

This works for many reason as it makes their projects run more efficiently and leaves less room for error. There is a great article here, which outlines how one company investment in BIM technology is paying dividends.

Many people are saying that 2009 will be the “tipping point” for BIM. So it will be interesting to see what happens.

As always if you need a product integrated into BIM or know of a Company who does. Please get them to contact us. The sooner everyone gets into BIM the better!
